About

Howdy!

Theo Bonham Carter.
Creative Director & Founder.

Hello. I’m a full-service creative with experience right across the software stack. I’ve defined strategies, shaped projects, designed interfaces, shipped code, written copy, and devised campaigns.

  • End-to-end Product Designer

  • Founder, Manager & Mentor

  • Individual Contributor & Strategic Leader

  • User Experience & Interfaces

I fill my free time with animals, places, and people.

Work.

I’m currently working on exciting things at Celonis, helping organisations better use data and intelligence to operate more sustainably and efficiently 🚀

2023 → Now

Principal Product Designer, Celonis

Before that I built design automation tool Dropdeck, which uses AI to magically turn written text into beautifully designed slides. It’s success led to acquisition by SamCart, and subsequent rebranding as Typeset. ✨

2020 → 2022

Founder, Dropdeck

A bit further back I led a product design team at Lucidworks, crafting tools for search, data and Ai. My Enterprise Search app put the company into Gartner’s “Leaders” quadrant for the first time ever 🥰

2017 → 2019

senior creative director, Lucidworks

With best practice UX baked in, Twigkit’s UI components let people rapidly build modern, data-driven search apps. A startup of 4 when I joined, I pioneered UX and design across the business, paving the way for our success and acquisition 🤝

2014 → 2017

creative director, Twigkit

At Northplains I led a design team helping brands protect and distribute digital assets. I also devised a handful of successful marketing campaigns, and refreshed our product identity 🍹

2013 → 2014

creative director, Northplains

At VYRE I designed global systems for thousands of Shell, Nokia, and Diageo employees. A marketing campaign I put together to promote our product went viral, reaching something like 300K people in it’s first 6 weeks 🥳

2010 → 2013

creative director, VYRE

I help clever people solve difficult problems.

I’ve had the pleasure of helping early-stage startups, Fortune 500s and Decacorns tackle some of the toughest problems of our age; across Medtech, Fintech, Government, FMCG, eCommerce, and others.

If you’d like to know more, my case studies are available on request.

I don’t have a fancy diagram to explain my process. But it’s a mix of curiosity, conversation, collaboration, and care. I’m a thinker, and a doer.

Oh, stop it.

Theo is unique. In my career I’ve never worked with anyone better at describing value, problems or solutions in words. Better at communicating these visually. Never known anyone better at seeing complex processes through the eyes of novice users. Better at making complex systems feel modern and beautiful.”

💬 Chief Product Officer, Lucidworks
